We were asked to write a blog about how we were called to this mission trip.
Here's my story. . .
ย
I'm a junior in high school, so it's time for me to start thinking of graduation- more specifically, a graduation project. To graduate from high school, I have to complete a senior project, which can be pretty much anything as long as I can complete a research paper and presentation about it. This lead me to the idea of going on a cultural trip to somewhere new and compare it to my own country. I thought I'd be going on a missions trip with my youth group this summer, but dates conflicted. So, I looked elsewhere for a project idea.
After tossing ideas about planting trees, working at a humane society, and going to Africa (sadly, that was a little more than I could handle), I went back to my original plan and thought a missions trip would help me more than just graduate. After some prayer and talking with my youth leaders who fully backed up my plan, I was assured this is the way I should go about completing my senior project. I would be able to reach out to others while in a completely new culture, and when I return I could continue my ministry when I present to teachers what I would have experienced in a new land with God's agenda.
I wasn't only drawn to the mission field for the chance to graduate. God had a lot to do with it. I needed to put myself in a new place with Him so I could continue to grow. I had to leave the comfort of my youth group and do something by myself. This is perfect!
